Propane Tank Color

Many times our clients will ask if they can paint their tank to blend in with their decor. If you own your own tank then you can paint your tank however there are some key issues that must be addressed when making this decision.

First and foremost a tank must be consumed by a light, reflective color. Propane tanks are always under pressure as they contain both liquid and gas. As a tank heats up the pressure builds up. If you paint your tank a dark color it will absorb the heat.

 Once your determine the reflective color for your tank you must make sure that the data tag is not concealed by the new paint. If the tag is painted then the tank cannot legally be re-filled.
